Are Living Creatures Now Being Sacrificed for Views and Likes?

In an era when social media has become an integral part of everyday life, some content creators appear willing to cross the boundaries of compassion and humanity in pursuit of views, likes, and online popularity. Recent months have seen a growing number of videos depicting cruelty toward animals, raising serious concerns among the public.

Are Living Creatures Now Being Sacrificed for Views and Likes?

One such case recently drew attention after a video was published on the Instagram account @amaqin_man, which has more than 82,000 followers. The footage shows a group of minors handling a live frog in a disturbing manner.

According to the video, the children hold the frog by its legs, turn it onto its back, and appear to perform a mock “operation” using needles and other sharp objects. The animal is clearly alive while being subjected to these actions.

However, the most troubling aspect of the video is not only the behavior of the children but also the presence of an adult. The footage suggests that the adult neither intervenes to stop the children nor attempts to protect the animal. Instead, the incident is recorded and shared on social media for public viewing.

Psychologists and educators have long warned that normalizing cruelty toward animals during childhood can contribute to desensitization and a lack of empathy toward other living beings, including people. Teaching children kindness, responsibility, and respect for animals is therefore an essential part of building a compassionate society.

Unfortunately, some social media users appear increasingly willing to exploit the suffering of animals for attention and engagement. While such content may generate temporary popularity, it also sends a dangerous message: that the pain of a vulnerable creature can be used as entertainment. Videos like these are not harmless content. They can influence young audiences by creating the impression that harming weaker beings is acceptable, amusing, or even rewarding. Such attitudes undermine efforts to promote ethical values and respect for life.

Cruelty toward animals is not merely a moral issue—it is a matter of public concern that deserves serious attention. Every living creature has the right to be protected from unnecessary suffering and abuse. For this reason, law enforcement agencies, relevant government institutions, and Instagram administrators should carefully review this incident and assess whether it violates applicable laws, platform policies, or standards of animal welfare. A society’s humanity is often measured by how it treats its most vulnerable members. If adults publicly record and distribute images of animal suffering for entertainment today, society risks raising a generation that becomes increasingly indifferent to the pain of others tomorrow.

Cruelty should never become content, and the suffering of living creatures should never be used as a tool for gaining views, likes, or online fame.
