According to law enforcement authorities, the head of the Ecology and Environmental Protection Department of one of the districts allegedly accepted a computer set worth 11 million Uzbek soums from a local resident.

A suspected case of corruption involving an environmental official has been uncovered in the Samarkand region.
According to law enforcement authorities, the head of the Ecology and Environmental Protection Department of one of the districts allegedly accepted a computer set worth 11 million Uzbek soums from a local resident.
In return, the official reportedly promised not to take action on documents related to the illegal felling of 150 poplar trees in the "Zarafshon" mahalla. He also allegedly agreed to reduce the assessed environmental damage and assist in releasing a vehicle from the impound lot.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Bribe Taking). The investigation is currently ongoing.
