"According to this draft Government Resolution developed by the Davaktiv agency, all parks in Uzbekistan will be transferred to the "Directorate for the Management of Parks" established under the khokimiyats. The directorates will have the authority to conduct trade, provide paid services, and lease facilities and land plots in parks. Under this pretext, the authors of the project also want to transfer the "Botanical Garden" in Tashkent, which belongs to the Academy of Sciences and contains rare tree and plant species, and where residents go for clean and cool air, to this pocket directorate of the khokimiyats. Unfortunately, in the past, many former khokimiyats of Tashkent also had their eyes on the territory of the "Botanical Garden". If the park is transferred to the khokimiyat, it will turn from an object of the natural world under the care of scientists into a business object. And the grove will turn into a construction site. Because the khokimiyat and his team simply do not have the capacity to do more. The goal: to "protect" it. But I hope the public won't just stand by and watch! "

After public outcry, the Botanical Garden was not transferred to the balance of the Tashkent city administration
The draft government resolution “On the radical improvement of the system of activities and management of parks” was published on the Project.gov.uz portal. Among the 196 parks listed in the document, the Tashkent Botanical Garden is to be removed from the jurisdiction of the Academy of Sciences and transferred to the balance of state institutions “Directorates of Management of Parks” under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city khokimiyats. This decision has caused public objections.
