Cases of cruelty to cats are on the rise

The situation of cruelty towards animals in the Sharof Rashidov neighborhood of the Mirabad district of Tashkent is causing public discontent. In particular, residents have received complaints that cats are being poisoned by unknown individuals in the area of 13 Shymkent Street and are dying in great pain.

Photos from the scene clearly show the cats struggling to walk and having difficulty breathing. Neighborhood residents are expressing suspicion that this is not the first time such incidents have been observed, and that some residents are deliberately poisoning the cats in order to "get rid" of them.

"You may not feed an animal, but deliberately killing it is completely inhumane. Cats are part of the neighborhood environment. Nothing can justify torturing and killing them," says one of the neighborhood activists.

The situation requires the attention of law enforcement agencies and veterinary services.
